If untreated, severe jaundice can lead to brain damage, hearing loss and even death.
Blue light irradiation (phototherapy) is a simple, effective and quick treatment for hyperbilirubinemia.
It lowers bilirubin levels through a process called photo-oxidation which adds oxygen to bilirubin, facilitating its dissolution in water.
