Product information “S.M.A.S.H Advanced IV Training Arm”
The S.M.A.S.H. Advanced Patient IV Training arm was first introduced in 1986 to help train, teach, and practice IV administration. The latest improvement to this “world-class” standard offers realism in a sleek design. A micropump mounted within the simulator’s shoulder delivers automatically generated arterial pulses at the radial and brachial sites and controls arterial blood flow by allowing variable heart rate and pulse strength. Interchangeable arterial and venous inserts within the forearm allow creation of arteriovenous (AV) fistulas and placement of AV grafts, while a simulated healed fistula insert provides a platform on which hemodialysis exercises can be performed. An additional multi-layer insert in the bicep area can be used for incision and suture training exercises.
Characteristics:
• Subcutaneous injection sites on the volar forearm and lateral upper arm
• Intramuscular injection site on the upper arm
• Arterial system with ulnar and humeral arteries
• Sutures and interfaces on the upper and lower arm
• Haemodialysis site on the forearm
• Arterial and venous insertion for IV exercises and blood sampling, AV anastomosis and placement of AV shunts. Multi-layer surgical insertion with skin, subcutaneous tissue, muscle, antecubital artery and antecubital vein
• AV fistula insert that simulates a healed fistula and is suitable for haemodialysis exercises
• Multi-layered biceps insert with skin, subcutaneous tissue and muscle enables cutting and suturing exercises
• Durable skin that can be punctured more than 200 times with a 20- or 22-gauge needle
• Realistic tactile feedback for both surgical exercises and arterial and venous punctures
• Adjustable heart rate and pulse strength, simulating a heart rate from 10 bpm to 150 bpm
• Cephalic vein (antecubital vein), basilar vein, radial vein and ulnar vein as well as arteries in the crook of the elbow and upper arm for infusions and blood sampling.
• The rotatable arm enables dorsal and volar access along the entire length of the arm.
• Different vein sensitivity to simulate collapsed or bulging vessels
• Simple assembly
• Without latex
• New materials developed in-house to replicate skin, subcutaneous tissue and muscle layers at all surgical sites.
• Optimised inserts, skin and vessels for better tactile feedback
• The pump integrated in the shoulder generates variable heart rates and pulse strengths. Low-noise and compact, making it even easier to transport.
• Easily interchangeable plug-and-play inserts to quickly change inserts between exercises
• Latex-free vessels with better access for easy replacement
